The Orthopedic Physical Therapist Assistant Specialization is designed for the experienced PTA who wants their didactic knowledge to be challenged, and become specialized in Orthopedics.  This 10-month program consists of weekly didactic educational sessions modeled after the Current Concepts of Orthopedic Physical Therapy - 3rd Edition.  Each week will include a 2-hour Q & A to review course content, in addition to a quiz.  In addition, recorded guest lectures will give other insight on current topics related to each weeks subject.

The Nxt Gen Institute of Physical Therapy has teamed up with the Eclectic Approach to TMD to present a modern manual therapy certification focusing on the evaluation and treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction. There is a lack of knowledge in the screening and treatment of this condition which may be affecting many of your upper quarter patients, especially those with concurrent headaches and/or cervical dysfunction. The Eclectic Approach uses movement screening via a modified Movement Screen as well as a Repeated Motions Exam to help classify the patient and find relevant movement and motor control issues. A strong emphasis on modern Pain Science Education and home exercises is used to make the patient independent of passive care. Manual therapy uses The EDGE Tool for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation or IASTM, as well as joint mobilization for the upper cervical spine and TMJ, function mobilization, and thrust manipulation of the cervical and upper thoracic regions.

This hybrid-learning course is aimed at identifying the mentor and mentor potential in all Nxt Gen Clinical Staff. The course uses lecture, discussion and pre-and post-course work to help participants awaken, inspire and sharpen their own mentor abilities.

This section is visible for residency and fellowship mentors only.  All of the content here will assist you in educating and preparing your student for clinical excellence.
